WHO IS MARK FRANCIS?
Mark Francis is a singer/songwriter/electric guitar player from Swindon who currently lives in Pesaro, Italy (the home town of the composer Rossini). After gaining his PhD in Chemistry at Cardiff University Mark Francis did biochemical research at Stanford University in California. After returning to the UK he carried out research in the School of Pharmacy at Bath University in South West England. His work included computer modelling and chemical synthesis of potential pharmaceuticals. Like Radiohead's Thom Yorke, Mark Francis could see the coming computer revolution and thus, decided to switch to a career in computing. This included website design and development, IT support, IT Teaching, and computer programming. In 2010, two years into the Financial Crisis, unemployed and feeling depressed he decided to buy himself his first electric guitar. (He had previously bought an acoustic f-holed guitar at the age of 20 but had not progressed beyond playing simple chords and melodies.) In 2015, he started writing lyrics for songs and completed his first song - Dante's Disco - in 2017. (Dante's Disco was inspired by a notorious discotheque in San Francisco where gangs used to hang out.) In 2019, he began releasing his songs under the band name 'Love It To Death'. A couple of years later Oxford bass player Gavin Murray composed and recorded bass parts for several 'Love It To Death' songs.
